Abstract

For the present study, we take as theoretical parameter Umberto Eco's discussions in Almost the same thing (2011) regarding what the author calls "translation losses and compensations" and "violation of reference", problematizing the Positive and negative effects that the use of these terms offers to the descriptive studies of the translation. In this way, we apply the concepts and discussions of Eco (2011) in the selected audiovisual corpus: the subtitles of the animated film "Inside Out" and its three versions: "Divertidamente" (in Brazilian Portuguese), "Del Reverse "(in Iberian Spanish) and "Intensamente "(in Latin Spanish). Through the comparative study between the four language samples, our objective is to describe and analyze the translation choices of each version.
