In spite of the distrust of politics, especially when one considers the praxis of professional politicians and the emergence of the postmodern episteme, it is important to emphasize it as a space between men, which must be constructed in a responsible way and with the primacy in the common good. It is in this sense that we understand the work of José Saramago - as a citizen and as an artist - by promoting the valorization of a humanist-democratic content. We will argue that such axiological content, in the saramaguian novel, is realized by reason of a dialectical structure (actions plan), which harmonizes with humanism and democracy, as well as to prevent a pamphlet and dogmatic aesthetic.Downloads
