THE MARXIST THOUGHT HAS ENGENDERED DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO THE STUDY OF LITERATURE, FROM THE OFFICIAL COMMUNIST INTERPRETATION OF THE ARTISTIC PHENOMENON, THE SO-CALLED "SOCIALIST REALISM", ON. AMONG THESE VARIOUS INTERPRETATIONS ARE THOSE DEVELOPED BY THINKERS AND ARTISTS SUCH AS BRECHT, CALDWELL, BAKHTIN, GRAMSCI, BENJAMIN, ADORNO AND LUKÁCS, ALL OF THEM PRESENTING A COMMON THREAD: THE SEARCH OF RELATIONSHIP THAT SHOULD EXIST BETWEEN LITERATURE AND SOCIAL LIFE. THE PURPOSE OF THIS ARTICLE IS TO PROVIDE A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF MARXIST THOUGHT ON ART THROUGHOUT THE PAST 20TH CENTURY.Downloads
