Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the role of the television series The walking dead in a process of popularization and at the same time emptying the threat of the monster-zombie. It brings some considerations on the tradition of undead stories, as well as the recycling of this tradition throughout the eight seasons of The walking dead on television, in which the directors have been exploring the connections already present in the original graphic novel series, with other narrative genres, specifically the western and the melodrama.
