Abstract

This project discusses the story of Marcus Pereira Records in São Paulo, analyzing its insertion in Brazilian industrial and cultural development. Evaluating 144 records produced by the label focusing regional, instrumental and folk music, this study shows how other independent labels were able to follow Marcus Pereira Records example in segmented markets that were not being explored by major labels.
