Abstract

Hollywood seduction machine has created irresistible mechanisms of attraction and has nurtured the dreams of common people all over the world, including Brazil. Many of the candidates to stardom were discovered in Europe, in the Far East and in Latin America. The present article studies the cases of brazilians Lia Torá, Olympio Guilherme e Raul Roulien, working as actors in Hollywood between 1927 and 1935, joining a large "latin" group in amercan movies and opening space in national print media with high circulation. We will observe the matter of how their hollywoodian trajetories have repercuted in Brazil and we will study the meaning of the image of "latiness" established from the producers point of view. We intend to demonstrate that the actors have entered the hollywoodian project for a global hegemony.
