Abstract

Starting from the essay “Dialetic of malandroism”, by Antonio Candido, who was interested in the novel Memórias de um sargento de milícias (1854), by Manuel Antônio de Almeida, this text tries to observe probable trends of coherence which can reverberate the figure of the “malandro” from literature to cinema, more precisely considering Brazilian road movies such as Iracema (Jorge Bodanzky e Orlando Senna, 1974), Bye bye Brasil (Carlos Diegues, 1979) and God is Brazilian (Carlos Diegues, 2003).
