The cultural experience of reading

This text discusses the role of schools in shaping of readers and what it should do with the texts of wide circulation. Argues that reading is a cultural experience based on the relationship betweenthis activity and reader’s everyday culture, stressing that schools should be able to offer a competence in reading, for rooting
this practice.
