Corpo mal-dito: considerações à margem da obra de Qorpo-Santo

Abstract

Reading the texts by José Joaquim de Campos Leão, two instances emerge as predominant in his writings: on one side, the urgency of testimony, and, on the other, the will of transgressing any grammar of representation. Equating those two poles, Qorpo-Santo tells us much more than any historical treatise or sociological study about his condition of a marginal and marginalized intellectual, and, more generally, on the cultural and human situation of a peripheral Brazil in the second half of the 19th century.
