Abstract

The following article presents a few strategies for the translation of poetry between languages that have different formal systems. We thus intend to show three ways of translating within a continuum extending from a translation not very strict regarding its form but semantically closer to the original, to one that is equal to the form of the original, but makes semantic concessions. These strategies are illustrated by translations of Mikhail Lomonosov, Alexander Pushkin and Anna Akhmátova.
